Simple, practical and warm, the Nielsen Skava frame in 100% European wood from sustainably managed forests, is produced in Europe. Order your photo print directly in its frame and choose from three presentation options to show it off to its best advantage:
- Full format, up to the edge of the frame,
- With a special acid-free cardboard mat,
- With white margins.
Composition
The Skava frame consists of:
- 2 mm thick mineral glass with polished edges
- A European pine wood frame 16 mm wide (front view) and 20 mm deep.

The Nielsen Skava Wood frame is available in four standard sizes:
- 30 x 40 cm
- 40 x 50 cm
- 50 x 60 cm
- 60 x 80 cm
The mat
The mat adds a classic, understated aesthetic touch that enhances your image. It also plays a protective role by preventing any direct contact between your print and the frame glass.
Our mats are entirely made in-house: they are produced to our specifications by our partner framing workshop. Made from thick, acid-free white cardboard, they ensure your print is preserved over time.
A window is cut out of the mat to reveal your image; this is the ‘image window’. Its inner edges are slightly bevelled for an even more refined and elegant finish.
Custom-made mat
Would you like to fully customise the presentation of your image?
On the settings page, select ‘Image format’, then choose ‘Custom mat’.
A new “Mat” tab will then appear, where you can freely enter the dimensions of the rotating edges. The image window is then calculated automatically and the result is displayed in real time on the screen. You can also fine-tune the cropping of your photo via the “Cropping” tab.
If you prefer not to use a mat, your image will be displayed in full format, occupying the entire surface of the frame.
Standard sizes and custom sizes
To offer you the best value for money, our standard sizes are available in fixed dimensions corresponding to the most common aspect ratios in photography (width-to-height ratio). For any custom dimensions, choose the “Custom Mat” option.

Important: if your image has a different aspect ratio to the three standard ratios offered, it will be automatically cropped and centred to the closest ratio.
You can check this cropping live on screen whilst preparing your order, or prepare your image accordingly beforehand.
