Our selection of custom-made Nielsen frames is expanding with new spacer options for aluminum frames. Choose from a selection of 3 colors to create a sense of depth for your framing.
Enjoy the quality and creativity of Nielsen frames by designing your own frame for your print: either in sleek and contemporary aluminum or in warm and natural wood.
Define the material and shape of the frame profile, its color, the glass, and for your print choose either with a mat, with white margins, or full-bleed, with or without a spacer: everything is custom-made!

Mounting

To ensure perfect flatness, we systematically mount your print on a rigid PVC board in our workshop. 


Frame Material

Three frame profile materials are available:

  - Aluminum. This is a lightweight metal with a raw silver-white finish, combining two advantages: it is both light and durable.
Nielsen aluminum frames are made from a premium material widely used in many technological fields (aerospace, automotive, etc.).
Thanks to their simple, linear shape, aluminum profiles offer a sleek and minimalist design.
A wide range of Nielsen aluminum frame profiles are available: frame 12 with spacer 13, frame 15, frame 03, frame 34, frame 272, frame 273 and frame 180 Alpha.
Anodization provides some profiles with extra protection and enhances the natural texture of the metal.

  - Wood Veneer Aluminum. Nielsen offers frames that combine the strength and lightness of aluminum with the warmth and charm of wood. These include frame profiles 34 Natura ,273 Natura and 181 Alpha..
They come in various wood veneer finishes for a very natural look.
Natural woods include wenge, oak, or maple, while painted finishes include anthracite, gray, or white.

  - Wood. These are natural woods, carefully selected and stocked by Nielsen from non-endangered species.
Woods are either left natural to reveal their structure or painted.
We have selected the Loft 162 Nature wooden frame.
The Loft 162 is a slim strip with wood veneer on three sides.
Wide, natural, and Scandinavian in style, it adds depth to your subject thanks to its tall profile height.
Painted or natural woods available: black, white, wenge, oak, cherry, bamboo, teak, maple.

Matboard 

The custom matboard is a special thick, acid-free framer’s board.
Available in all custom frame sizes except frame 12, it protects your print over time.

White Margins

You can adjust the white margins around your print yourself when configuring your frame with our Margins tool.

Frame Profile Dimensions 

The profile of the aluminum frame profile 15 has a front-facing width of 9.5 mm and a depth of 26 mm.
The profile of the Loft 162 wooden frame has a front-facing width of 25 mm and a depth of 45 mm.
The profile of the aluminum frame profile 03 has a front-facing width of 10 mm and a depth of 18 mm.
The profile of the aluminum frame profile 34 has a front-facing width of 5.5 mm and a depth of 34.9 mm.
The profile of the aluminum frame profile 272 has a front-facing width of 6 mm and a depth of 32 mm.
The profile of the aluminum frame profile 273 has a front-facing width of 4.8 mm and a depth of 19.5 mm.
The profile of the aluminum frame profile 180 has a front-facing width of 7.8 mm and a depth of 25.9 mm.
The profile of the aluminum frame profile 12 / 13 has a front-facing width of 7.8 mm and a depth of 40.1 mm.


Glass Protection

The quality of the glass is essential for the final result of a frame. Choosing high-quality glass is key for visual comfort, color rendering, and print preservation.

We offer four types of protective glass:

- Anti-Reflective Glass 2 mm (1). Nielsen’s premium True Color + UV 70 glass undergoes a special treatment to significantly reduce reflections. The result is striking: the glass appears invisible.
This glass is made up of 4 optical interference layers and a scratch-resistant coating on both sides. It filters 70% of UV rays.

- Clear Glass 2 mm (2). Affordable and reliable, clear glass naturally filters part of UV rays.

- Acrylic Glass (Plexiglass) 2 mm (3). Lightweight and shatterproof, it partially filters UV. It is recommended for large frames to reduce overall weight.

- No Glass (4). It is possible to choose no glass for direct visual contact with the print. However, it will not be protected over time. This option is only available for aluminum frames except frame 12.
